Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1
It was sometimes back when Asus held an event in India to announce their new device Zenfone Max Pro M1. The Taiwan based company stated that the device will have Snapdragon 636 processor. It was today in the afternoon when Asus held a launch event in India and Indonesia to launch their Zenfone Max Pro M1 in both countries at the same time. It was speculated that the company would be launching Zenphone 5 and Zenphone 5z smartphones in April but Zenphone Max Pro M1 came as a surprise to Indian customers.
It is speculated that Asus came to a conclusion to release the new device specifically for the Indian and Indonesian market. The release Zenfone Max Pro M1 is the first ever device by Asus to have a Pure Android User interface.
Just a year ago, Xiaomi had launched Mi A1 with Android One which was a surprise for stock Android lover. Seems, Asus has also followed the path of Xiaomi and took a chance to come up with Stock Android ditching their own Zen UI. The device would be getting faster updates now because of the presence of stock Android.
The device features a metal unibody design having a 2.5D curved glass on the front panel. The screen size is 5.99 inches having a Full HD+ resolution of 2160*1080 pixels and 18:9 ratio which has been trending since last year. Fortunately, Zenfone Max Pro A1 comes without notch unline their Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z which were unveiled in MWC 2018. Zenfone Max Pro A1 houses a Snapdragon 636 which is an Octa-core processor having custom Kryo cores.
A few days back Asus and Flipkart hold an event in New Delhi to announce their exclusive partnership for selling the new Zenfone Max Pro M1 to the Indian consumers. The Taiwanese company had mentioned the device to come with Snapdragon 636 processor. Today, Asus is holding the launch event for the Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India and Indonesia simultaneously. Earlier, we expected the company to launch the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z smartphones in the Indian market.
However, the company decided to launch a new device specifically for the emerging markets. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is also the company’s first ever smartphone to come with stock Android UI. Last year, Xiaomi surprised everyone by launching the Xiaomi Mi A1 Android One smartphone. Now in 2018, Asus ditches its own Zen UI in favor of stock UI. With stock Android, the device will be able to get faster Android updates.
Talking about the device, it comes with the metal unibody design with 2.5D curved glass on the front. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 sports a 5.99-inch FullView display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Unlike the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5z smartphones, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with a notch-less display. Under the hood is the 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform featuring custom Kryo cores.
Zenfone Max Pro A1 comes in two variant, the higher model comes with 4GB RAM & 64GB internal storage while the minor version houses 3GB RAM & 32GB storage. The presence of micro SD slot makes it stand out from the crowd having expansion limit of 256GB. It has got a circular disc type fingerprint sensor on its back which is said to unlock the device within 0.3 seconds.
The smartphone also has a facial recognition system which has been the latest trend of 2018 to unlock the phone using Face Unlock feature. The smartphone has got dual camera setup in back side having 13+5MP having an aperture of f/2.2 along with 80-degree wide lens. On the front side, the phone houses 8MP selfie camera with a selfie flash. Asus also stated that the phone has got Portrait mode for clicking pics with bokeh effect.
Keeping aside all the features, the device packs in a massive battery of 5000mAh which is non-removable and can make the phone last for more than a day with heavy usage. Even after packing in a huge battery, Asus didn’t provide with fast charging feature as the device only supports 5V/2A power input. The audio via phone speakers is said to be great as it houses a 2nd-gen NXP smart Amplifier system.
The form factor of the phone is 159 x 76 x 8.61 mm and is180 grams heavy. The device comes with the latest version of Android which Android Oreo 8.1. The device has got two color options namely, Deepsea Black and Meteor Silver.
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Launch date in Nepal:
The release date of Zenfone Max Pro A1 in Nepal is not yet decided, but it can come somewhere in June to the Nepali Market. The Phone is priced in India as 10,999INR (NRS 17,600) for 3GB and 32GB variant and 12,999 INR (NRS 20798) for 4GB and 64GB variant which is a very competitive price for the Indian market as there are various players in the same price category.
